My Obituary

McCutcheon, Kristin Madelyn - The death of 17 year old Kristin Madelyn McCutcheon of Saint John, New Brunswick occurred on February 25th while she was visiting the home of folklore legend “The Loch Ness Monster” in Scotland. It was always one of her dreams to find out if Nessie was real. We now know all too well now, that Nessie is real and not a friendly creature. Kristin was the daughter of Crystal McCutcheon and Rolland Despres (who never approved of her thrill seeking adventures in Loch Ness), grand-daughter of Madelyn McCutcheon and niece of Richard McCutcheon. She was an only child and had always wished she had a brother or sister to boss around. Kristin worked as a baker and cashier at Tim Horton’s where her everyday customers and co-workers will miss her crazy antics and signature red bow. Before her employment with Tim Horton’s, she prepared hamburgers at Wendy’s and liked to eat grilled pickles on her breaks. She was a student at Saint Malachy’s Memorial High School and intended on graduating in June. Kristin was uncertain as to what career she wanted to pursue, but those around her knew she could do anything she put her mind to, except become a doctor. Besides her work searching for Nessie, Kristin is best known for her passionate attitude and love of all art forms. She was involved in school plays and musicals, her school newspaper and many music companies around the city of Saint John. She was known for her sense of humor and general shenanigans that made all around her laugh. Kristin was a fan of the Montreal Canadiens and got into a fight once with a girl who favoured Toronto, she was also a fan of Seinfeld, going to the movies and building snowmen. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John on Wednesday, February 27th. Visitation will take place from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Kristin had a happy face tattooed on her left arm, signifying happiness, Saturday March 1st there will be a convention held at Outworld Tattoo, from 9 a.m. - 6 p,m, for anyone who wishes to get a free happy face tattoo in her memory. Remembrances can be made to the Save the Elephants Campaign, Our Earth is Burning Society, or The Human Fund.

I had to write this for an assignment at Co op. I must say it sure was an interesting assignment to do, and it is even more interesting to read.

Recently

Wow, there have been very long spaces between the posts I have been making. Sometimes I actually feel a bit guilty if I don't document every aspect of my life, I think that's probably one of the weirdest things about myself. Can't change it, though. Anyway... moving forward.

Past events/milestones:
- I don't know if I am accepted to University yet. :(
- I have a boyfriend. He lives in Fredericton. It's kind of weird saying I have a boyfriend, because I don't really know what I would even consider to be a relationship anymore, since I have had so many ups and downs recently, in that department. Nevertheless, I am happy and I hope things really work out.
- I tried out for Drama Fest, today. I believe that I did really well. I will find out next week, if I made it or not.
- I go to New York City for the Easter weekend. Departure in : 3 days. :)

Upcoming events:
- New York in 3 days.
- Fredericton to visit Mason, the weekend after this one. <3
- Midterms in a couple of weeks, means there is only one term left till I graduate !!!

No Country For Old Men

Running time 122 minutes
Written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen
Starring Javier Bardem, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin
By Kristin McCutcheon

No Country For Old Men, adapted from Pulitzer Prize winning author Cormac McCarthy, tells the story of modest welder and hunter Llewellyn Moss's (Josh Brolin) unfortunate run-in with a trail of dead, drugs, two million dollars and a ruthless killer that stops at nothing to get what he wants. Written and directed by the Coen brothers, Joel and Ethan, this movie has the right amount of suspense, comedy and drama to make it an instant classic.

The movie begins with a backdrop of its setting, the 1980's in Texas, and the voice of an aging sheriff (Tommy Lee Jones) speaking about the continuous rise in crime and violence. Soon, everyman Llewllyn Moss stumbles upon the corpses of Mexicans appearing to have undergone a bad drug deal and finds the money that should have been in the hands of the second party. Moss is smart enough to know that someone, more specifically, assassin Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem), will be searching for the loot. The movie follows Moss's run from motel to motel trying to escape the emotionless killer that hunts him. Sheriff Bell (Tommy Lee Jones) keeps on the trail of this cat and mouse hunt throughout the film.

Academy award winner for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Javier Bardem, plays the intriguing and brutal antagonist, Anton Chigurh. The role of Chigurh needed to have the right comedic to barbaric ratio to be successful and a believable character; Bardem captured that in every sense. Josh Brolin portrays Llwellyn as a man that was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The most starred actor, Tommy Lee Jones, has very powerful moments and monologues, as he is realizing more about his county and things much bigger than himself. Supporting roles from Woody Harrelson and Kelly Macdonald also add flair to the film, but in small doses.

From scene to scene, the film is always unpredictable. While you are sitting there thinking you know what is going to happen next, you are slightly surprised to see you are repeatedly wrong. In turn, this keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. Another aspect that adds to the suspense is the fact that there is very little music if any at all used. The sound was simple, yet eerie, being only the sounds the characters made through movement and speech.

A well deserving film of four wins out of eight Academy award nominations, winning Best Picture, Best Direction, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Other nominations were for film editing, cinematography, sound editing and sound mixing. There is not one unnecessary gesture, word or action in the whole of this film. It will keep you enticed. You will leave astounded.

Oh Gawwwwwd!

No one really reads this, do they? Well, since I don't think so, I'm spilling my heart tonight.

I have a boyfriend, who's better as a friend and a heart that sleeps alone. Poetic? Maybe. True? Yes. I think I have found my other half, and sadly enough it isn't him. I may sound crazy and completely out of my tree, but I don't know.. maybe soul-mates do exist. His name is Mason. That's really all I need to say about him, other than I have never felt so connected to another person before. Ugh. :( I will be visiting him next weekend. Very excited.

In other news, I applied to St. Thomas University, in Fredericton. It will definitely be a huge change compared to live in Saint John, but I decided that it was probably the best choice and if I didn't just go for it, I don't think I ever would. I'm really lame like that.. and I put things off. Huge procrastinator.

New York trip is fast approaching. The march break has consisted of unimaginable amounts of work and way too little time spent on resting. I did see No Country For Old Men, which was amazing. I wrote a review for Co-Op, I'll post it after this one. Other than this information, I have no important news, really. Staying over at The Fillion Residence on Saturday, I do believe. Shall be fun.
